COVID19: What You Need To Know

FROM THE HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY FILM COMMISSIONER
In light of ongoing concern about COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Film Tampa Bay is reaching out to Bay Area filmmakers and production companies to offer resources to inform your decision making and to reassure you that travel and business in Tampa Bay remain relatively stable at this point.

Major events such as next week’s Florida State Thespian Society Festival and the NCAA Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds currently remain on schedule.

We have seen some drop off in client inquiries as can be expected out of a sense of caution, and some productions have elected to push dates. However, no scheduled productions have canceled thus far due to COVID-19. Production seems to be steady.

COVID-19 Resources:
Our parent company at Visit Tampa Bay has activated a special landing page to provide a one-stop shop for resources and information regarding COVID-19. It includes the latest official statement about how the local tourism industry is addressing concerns about the virus. As film is linked inexorably with tourism, it is a good rule of thumb to follow suit.

Film Tampa Bay Recommends:

  • Increased sanitation options on sets, including hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes and sprays.

  • Actively encourage cast and crew to assess their own health risks.

  • Continue to be informed and actively share information with clients.

  • Have a plan if cast or crew exhibit signs of illness.
