May Recap

We were humbled and honored to be recognized in the Short List of Nominees for the Global Production Awards category of Best Emerging Film Location. Tyler attended the Awards Ceremony in Cannes Film Festival. Congratulations to Saudi Arabia on taking home the win, and a huge thank you to the Global Production Awards for this incredible recognition, and thank you to our community for celebrating with us. This nomination is a testament to the stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and welcoming community that make our location a filmmaker’s dream. Together, we brought Film Tampa Bay to the global stage.

From Hillsborough County to Hollywood! Congratulations to HCPS alumni Owen Teague for starring in the new summer blockbuster, "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes." Owen was part of the Movie Makers Club at MacFarlane Park Elementary School and the Thespian Club at Blake High School. His filmography includes "It" and "Black Mirror."

"Triple 7" Screening at Tampa Theatre!

This month, Tyler led an in-depth Q&A with the filmmakers of TRIPLE 7 after the film screened at Tampa Theatre. Triple 7 follows a group of former Special Operations Soldiers on a 7-day journey across 7 continents to raise 1,400 life-changing scholarships in support of the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders. The divers & crew battle some amazing elements along the way, and test their own strength and endurance.

While this film's locations span across 7 continents to capture the journey of this record-breaking accomplishment, Director Dan Myrick filmed the final scene here, as the crew landed back home in Tampa Bay.
