Geena Davis talks at Tampa Theatre, special guest speaker as part of the Limelight Series

It was our privilege, along with Visit Tampa Bay, to present Academy-Award winner Geena Davis to the stage at the historic Tampa Theatre.

An absolute icon in film and tv, and an advocate for gender equality in media, the conversation was insightful and moving. “I only play role models,” Geena said as the crowd chuckled. “The roles I play are of people who are stronger than me, and I train to do the great things that they do.”

Known for her unforgettable role as Dottie Hinson in "A League of Their Own," you may not be shocked to find out that Geena is also an accomplished archer — ranked 13th in the world in fact!

We thank her for her motivating words, as well as taking the time to personally sign baseballs for our VIP attendees.
