Film Tampa Bay's Top Holiday Movie Picks

This year, Christmas falls on a weekend. So we thought to ourselves, should we create a marathon of our favorite Holiday movies and share it with everyone? And the answer was obviously yes. So, here are our team’s top Holiday movie picks.

Tyler’s picks include:

Number one. Die Hard (1988) starring Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman, and directed by John McTiernan.

Come out to the coast, we’ll get together, have a few laughs. Watch an NYPD officer (Willis) battle his way through Nakatomi plaza to save hostages from German terrorists. After all, it isn’t officially Christmas until we see Hans Gruber fall from Nakatomi Tower. Stream this OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS MOVIE on Peacock and Amazon Prime.

Number two. Gremlins (1984) starring Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates and Corey Feldman, and directed by Joe Dante.

Now you have another reason to hate Christmas. A young man inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town. Stream these horrifying cuties on HBO Max.

Number three. Rare Exports (2010) starring Jalamari Helander, Juuso Helander and Petri Jokiranta, and directed by Jalmari Helander.

Number one. White Christmas (1954) starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney, and directed by Michael Curtiz.

We’re more the 'I-don't-mind-pushing-my-best-friend-into-but-I'm-scared-stiff-when-I-get-anywhere-close-to-it-myselfing' kind.

A successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general. Stream this classic on Netflix.

Number two. Christmas Vacation (1989) starring Chevy Chase, Beverly Dangelo and Juliette Lewis, written by John Hughes.

It’s the jolliest bunch of ******** this side of the nuthouse! The Griswold family's plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn into a big disaster. Stream it on HBO Max.

Number three. Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) starring Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts.

Depressed at the commercialism he sees around him, Charlie Brown tries to find a deeper meaning to Christmas. Stream it on Apple TV.

Number one. Ron Howard’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) starring Jim Carrey and directed by Ron Howard.

On the outskirts of Whoville lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans to ruin Christmas for all of the citizens of the town. In an effort to spread holiday cheer, Cindy Lou invites him to the whobilation. Even if he wanted to go, his schedule wouldn’t allow it! But they’re relentless! Stream it on Hulu and Peacock.

Number two. Klaus (2019) starring JK Simmons, Jason Schwartzman and Rashida Jones.

A simple act of kindness always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place. When Smeerensburg's new postman, Jesper, befriends toymaker Klaus, their gifts melt an age-old feud and deliver a sleigh full of holiday traditions. Stream it on Netflix.
